Bargaining teams for Canada Post and the Public Service Alliance of Canada/Union of Postal Communications Employees (PSAC/UPCE) met on April 11-12 to discuss proposals. It was the first meeting since February.
The parties have only met over nine days since notice to bargain was filed on August 10, 2016. We are to meet again with the Alliance in mid-May and in late July, but reiterated that we are available to meet at any time to ensure we reach a negotiated settlement in a timely manner.
As indicated in a summary of our key proposals, we are prepared to negotiate wage and benefit increases and other improvements.
We remain fully committed to negotiating a new four-year collective agreement that is fair for employees while meeting our business challenges and the needs of our customers.
The collective agreement expired on August 31, 2016 but will continue to apply as per the terms of the Canada Labour Code.
We will continue to keep you informed of key developments through your team leaders and head office communications.
