CUPW tentative agreements: Ratification vote process now underway
April 21, 2026, 12:16 pm
The voting process is now underway for CUPW-represented employees to vote on the tentative agreements, with some union locals starting to vote yesterday.
CUPW is managing the ratification vote. It’s an opportunity for employees in the Urban and RSMC bargaining units to vote on whether to accept or reject their respective tentative agreement. The tentative agreements – approved by Canada Post and a majority of the CUPW National Executive Board – are the product of Canada Post and CUPW sitting down to negotiate new agreements at the table.
Membership information meetings
Starting April 20 and running through May 30, CUPW locals will be holding information meetings followed by voting for CUPW-represented employees. CUPW says on its website that members cannot vote unless they attend the membership information meeting prior to voting.
Attend a meeting and vote at the available specified times
Check the CUPW website to see your local’s information meetings, including the location and start time. While many locals provide several meetings and votes over a number of days, some smaller locals may provide one meeting and one vote per bargaining unit. To avoid missing your voting window, check the meeting and vote schedule for your local.
Talk to your local CUPW representative
If you have questions about when and where to cast your vote, talk to your local CUPW representative or visit the CUPW website for information. The secret ballot vote means your vote is confidential.
Building back the business
We are hopeful employees will choose to ratify the agreements. The tentative agreements provide employees with security while ensuring the stability needed to help us win back some business from major retailers, especially as they build their holiday peak season shipping plans in June and July.
Learn more about the tentative agreements
CUPW’s recent member bulletins, available on its website, contain summaries of what’s in the tentative agreements. CUPW also provides the full contractual texts on its website.
The tentative agreements, negotiated between Canada Post and CUPW, preserve job security protections and pension benefits, while providing wage increases and enhancements to other important benefits that employees rely on.
Stay informed
We recognize this is an important period for employees. Our approach is to communicate transparently and provide reliable information as the process moves forward.
