CUPW tentative agreements: Working to build back our business
April 28, 2026, 01:38 pm
After a very challenging round of negotiations, including several global offers from Canada Post, the parties were able to sit down and negotiate tentative agreements that both the Corporation and CUPW could agree to.
The agreements take into consideration the positions of the union and Canada Post’s situation in the current economic and business climate.
CUPW-represented employees are voting on whether to accept or reject these agreements. With voting now underway, check the CUPW website to find voting information for your local.
Protecting key provisions
For employees in both Urban and RSMC bargaining units, the tentative agreements protect job security provisions and the defined benefit pension. The agreements also provide higher wage increases agreed to by both parties, as well as enhanced health benefits and leave provisions.
Transformation measures
As you know, we’ve started to hold important meetings with our bargaining agents on our multi-year transformation. The tentative agreements support this transformation with changes including a weekend delivery model agreed to by CUPW and the Corporation.
Our transformation will help us rebuild the business, restore trust with customers, and once again be a player in the Canadian ecommerce market. Canada Post can modernize while continuing to provide good jobs with competitive wages and industry-leading benefits.
Building a stronger postal service
This past round of bargaining was one of the most challenging in the company’s history. We understand how difficult this period has been for employees. Working together, we look forward to building back our business and delivering a stronger postal service for the country.
Stay informed
We recognize this ratification process is an important period for employees. Our approach is to communicate transparently and provide reliable information as the process moves forward.
