CUPW negotiations update

May 25, 2025, 07:03 pm 10 comments

Canada Post received responses to our global offers from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) on Sunday and will review them in detail.

After almost two years of negotiations, a lengthy national strike and the release of the final report of the Industrial Inquiry Commission, it’s now time for urgency and we will respond in short order. The impact of the ongoing uncertainty on our business is significant, but the impact on the Canadian economy is greater.  By the end of last week our delivered parcel volumes were down by 50% over this time last year and continue to drop.

  • By the way, the urban group thanks you all for screwing us over 12 years for CUPW bending for you all to get what we’ve worked hard to keep, national is nothing but a sellout and a profit pig on your backs, jokes on all of us, because of bringing rural into our contract talks..

    • how are we to blame as RSMCs? we didn’t fight for this, our crap union did. keep blaming them if you’re mad.

  • Crickets from CUPW everyone wants to blame the corporation, but the union does not even show the counter offer, like a bunch of cowards they don’t update us what’s happening. Oh by the way you can all cry because the plants have zero mail, thank CUPW for screwing us out of work.. We were making more money without this BS as contractors

  • All the money lost in last two years should have of gave us went we wanted .you wouldn’t be where you are today !

  • First of all all these lies from canada post. Here’s some facts that show Cp have been misleading to the public and to the news and to the gouv itself. Let’s start off with where the money is going. Like the oldest cliche follow the money example if a supervisor or employee needs an item cp needs to buy it but a supervisor can’t order it lets say from canadian tire for example if a supervisor needs to order a dolly which is things to move boxes at canadian tire it cost 200-250$ but instead a supervisor needs to order with the cp dealer which costs 600$ each. This is all over canada for everything it’s like 3x the price why for a company crying about loosing money sure weird that they are willing to pay 3x the price on every product and no one checks for the exact same product for cheaper. Imagine how much money is being spent for no reason for the last 10 years alone why 3x more is it going in someones pockets. 2- they got into revamping cp to modernize it. They went and purchase brand new machines for the letters all over canada which cost over 500 million but you said letters are dying so why purchase brand new machines that cost over 500million together all over canada, they got every mailman a new truck worth you guessed it over 250million, they got a machine that was made from Italy mind you that cost over 500-750million and that’s just in montreal, then they bought robot forklifts that drive with cages with no driver each costs 750k to 1million 3x the price else where and in montreal there’s like 10 so I imagine all over canda there’s maybe 200 or more that’s another 100-200 million so please tell me when you say your in the red and you have no money well god damn it if id spend the way you guys have spent in the last 5 years alone id be bankrupt also….
how about fire these people in charge of spending oh and how is a company in the red still giving all those people bonuses of hundreds of thousands when an employee asks for 1$ raise your crying your making no money. Hell when you bring this up to the higher ups they say well we need to make cp modernized not when it’s on the backs of the employees and then try to use your spending to scape goat the employees how about the higher ups. Also stop listening to the lie if there’s mail is in decline we are lossing money — here’s logic over fear and bs. Mail has declined lets say 60 percent in the last 5 years ok but you’ve raised the stamp 60 percent in the last 5 years so even if you lost 60 percent of the people the other 60 percent of the stamp bought by the 40 percent of people are covering that loss also mailman less overtime because less mail to deliver door to door and also in the plants less overtime since mail is less not as much to process so tell me where do you see a loss I see only savings so please stop trying to scare people because you can’t scare smart people only shows how your trying to lie when you say stupidities

  • The only people responsible for this whole mess is YOU! Stop gaslighting the workers and union to the public. Stop filtering business to your sister company Purolator. The Canadian Public deserves better service not less service.

  • I still don’t understand—if sales have dropped, why is the issue being blamed on the postal workers and not the sales department? Isn’t it the sales department’s job to bring in business? Or is it the postal workers’ job to find customers? Why is all the responsibility being pushed onto the postal workers? Postal workers only provide services; they have no control over sales or production. Also, Canada Post owns Purolator, and both companies share the same leadership. So how much growth has there been on the other side of the business? Is business being deliberately shifted to the other company while the public is being misled with lies?

  • Perhaps the delivered parcel volumes would not have been down 50% if you had not been telling shippers to ship elsewhere for the last 3 months

  • Enough is enough sign the deal

  • Please let this be it!
