CUPW Negotiations: Canada Post presents comprehensive framework to reignite talks and reach agreements

December 1, 2024, 04:06 pm 17 comments

In an effort to move talks forward, Canada Post earlier today presented the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) with a comprehensive framework for reaching negotiated agreements. The framework includes proposals to bring greater flexibility to the Corporation’s delivery model, while also demonstrating movement on other key issues. It is our hope that these proposals will reignite discussions and, together with the support of mediators, help the parties work toward final agreements. To facilitate talks, we will not be providing further details outside the negotiations process at this time.

We understand the impact CUPW’s national strike is having on your business, our employees and so many Canadians. Canada Post remains committed to negotiating new collective agreements that will provide the certainty everyone is looking for.

  • Was suburban service ( S.S.) sub contractor for 19 yrs and they made us employees in 2004. Worked till 2021 as employee and retired. Thankfully I made it out of there with a pension and hopefully you newer guys and gals do alright too. Keep fighting you guys! I will be cheering for you!

  • Both sides of the negotiation parties need a deadline! Then have replacements to continue where they left off.
No “coiling off” period should exist!!!

    • They get paid to sit at table. We don’t get anything No way we’re going to recover what we lost. They drag it out any longer the government WILL step in. #binding arbitration

  • Almost a year to hammer out a deal? Then hold everyone hostage at Xmas? We’ll never recover from this. Public sentiment has definitely turned against postal workers.

  • Maybe CUPW should come and buy my little kids their Christmas presents since I can’t afford to

  • I agree 💯 %

  • It’s no longer about the employees it’s a power struggle for the corporate managers try to keep there jobs and national reps representing themselves

    • No it’s the union stalling over a year and nothing being done.. They get full pay and don’t care about anyone.. FYI Purolator delivering our parcels now, so you can add job losses when this nightmare negotiation ends..

  • CUPW solidarity Canada Post management must be cut

    • CUPW has caused this mess, shake your head.. who takes 14+ months to negotiate and not come back with something reasonable

      • I agree 💯 %

      • That’s because they refuse ro compromise. They’d rather be ‘right’ and have 55,000 workers outside in the cold losing three weeks wages…. and counting! Everyone knows Canada Post has to change to compete and survive. We’re in 2024, not the eighties or seventies.

        • Correct, but unfortunately CUPW doesn’t understand that, most of the existing National committee come from that era.. They don’t understand Business or Change..
