CUPW announces national strike

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has announced it intends to begin a national strike on Friday, November 15 at 12:01 a.m. ET.

Canada Post’s operations will shut down during a national strike, affecting millions of Canadians and businesses across the country.

What to expect during a national strike

Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. Service guarantees will be impacted for items already in the postal network. No new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

All mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible on a first-in, first-out basis once operations resume. However, a national strike of any length will impact service to Canadians well after the strike activity ends. Processing and delivery may take some time to fully return to normal.

  • The most important aspect of a strike is public support, of which we have none. Absolutely no one cares that we are on strike, they will just get their bills online and parcels through another courier. They are not losing anything bit our union is causing us to lose everything.

  • This is rediculous. Our union is out of touch with reality and will be the downfall of all of us. We are already more than fairly compensated for the work we do. We are mail and parcel carriers, not neurosurgeons.

  • both sides… we plead with you… please leave ego, bullying, and propoganda behind… this should NOT be about POWER, it should be about protecting our wages, protecting our benefits. CUPW, stop demanding greed to empower your entity. I just want to do my job…

  • LEAVE THE PROPOGANDA where it belongs… in the TRASH….. lets get down to TRUTHFUL and COMMONSENSE negotiation!!!

  • WHY does the news and propoganda keep stating its about WAGES?? Its NOT, its about PROTECTING WHAT we have already – the threat of CPC removing what we have! The WAGES negotiation just makes US look GREEDY!!!! Lets protect what we have and move forward! And the demand for YET ANOTHER 10 days off is an embarrasing demand! WE ALREADY HAVE 10 medical, vacation, personal, and extra………. lets STOP THE EMBARRASING demands and get down to REALITY!!!!!!
