CUPW negotiations: Canada Post presents new global offers

Canada Post has presented new global offers for employees represented by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). The offers for the Urban and RSMC bargaining units demonstrate the company’s commitment to reaching agreements at this crucial point in the negotiations.
The new offers go further on wage increases and would protect employees’ benefits and entitlements. The offers also reflect the Corporation’s current realities. To protect and maintain what employees value most and secure the future of the postal system, we’ve proposed important changes to build flexibility into our delivery model and to help address the company’s significant financial and operational challenges.
Avoiding a costly labour disruption
Canada Post has received strike notices from CUPW, indicating that the union intends to begin strike activity as of Friday, May 23 at 12:00 am local time, unless the parties reach agreements before then. Our operations continue as usual at this time.
This is a critical moment for the postal system. Building on the important work of the Industrial Inquiry Commission (IIC) and the findings and recommendations in its final report, the parties must now bring urgency to the negotiations. Another labour disruption would be costly and disruptive for employees, small businesses and the millions of Canadians who rely on the postal system.

I agree, this is as good as we will get, put the offer to a vote!
No strike let’s work and show Canada Post we care.
This is about as good as it is ever going to get.
Given the current financial and economic circumstances, we will never see as good an offer as this ever again.
We should put the issues to bed and accept this offer. We should have accepted the offer made in the fall of last year and avoided a costly 4-week strike.
CUPE claimed they received a 94-96% mandate to strike last fall BUT they never disclosed what proportion of the membership actually turned out to vote in the first place.
Since that time, over the past 5 months, sentiments have changed. The union is stretching reality by assuming and claiming they still have a mandate to take us out on strike again when the vast majority of members and employees do not want another strike.
The CUPW leadership need to move their mindset into the 21st century (as opposed to remaining in the 19th) and actually listen to their membership.
They could have also underwritten the cost of healthcare benefits premiums out of our Union Dues (now more than $84 month). My family plan premiums, including life insurance, would have been about $25 and they claim to be looking out for our best interests.
I hope the offer is accepted and any. lingering differences can continue to be resolved through a process of respectful, collaborative negotiations … with open-minded, creative, solutions-oriented representatives from both sides.
I agree 100%. It’s a good offer and no question it’s the best we’re going to get. CPC is making concessions, CUPW is not. I sincerely hope common sense prevails and they accept. Enough is enough. If they reject the offer then CPC should bring a vote to membership, I guarantee it will be a resounding “yes”.
i also agree 100 per cent!!! well said.
is ANYONE listening though??
In this day and age who can afford strike action. I’m sure all those on the bargaining committee are still getting their fat pay checks
Please Canada Post force the union to let the members vote. I can guarantee most people would say yes
We are thankful for our job at Canada Post and we do NOT want a strike again. I agree with the offers.
It’s time to put the company’s offer to the membership of the union.
Otherwise union leadership should seek a fresh strike mandate from the membership.
There is zero support at grass roots level for return to strike action
Been through many strikes. This is a good offer. Strike and it’s gone. Too bad CUPW can’t move forward.
Enough already!!!!!! You may be striking us all out of a good job!
We need our Demands meet if not Go Go Go for National Strike May 23//25 12:00 am Fri
Take the deal already – CUPW are trying to negotiate us out of a job!
We should get to vote.
As much as thr RSMC looks decent, I wouldn’t think that they would try transitioning RSMC’s into an addressed/urban model. I know a few places this is already happening in rural AB an SK
you don’t deliver mail by address? what?
my vote is a yes
They better let us vote even if the Urban’s don’t. Our contract is fine, it’s the Urban’s with the issues.
love this offer! i vote yes!!
