CUPW tentative agreements: What you need to know as voting opens April 20

April 14, 2026, 04:51 pm

CUPW-represented employees may have seen CUPW’s announcement that voting on the Urban and RSMC tentative agreements will open on April 20 and run through May 30. This is your opportunity to vote on the tentative agreements that Canada Post and CUPW negotiated at the table.

Here’s what you need to know as voting gets underway.

When and where to vote

The ratification vote is being run by CUPW. Talk to your local CUPW representative or visit the CUPW website for information about when, where and how to cast your vote. The secret ballot vote means your vote is confidential.

What you’ll be voting on

CUPW-represented employees in the Urban and RSMC bargaining units will vote on whether to accept or reject their respective tentative agreement. These tentative agreements – approved by Canada Post and a majority of the CUPW National Executive Board – are the product of Canada Post and CUPW sitting down to negotiate new agreements at the table.

How to learn more about the agreements

CUPW’s recent member bulletins, available on its website, contain summaries and information about what’s in the tentative agreements. CUPW also provides the full contractual texts on its website.

Canada Post’s transformation and working with our bargaining agents

We’ve begun important meetings with all bargaining agents on our multi-year transformation plan. It’s critical to the future of the company that we move forward, while working closely with our bargaining agents and the government.

The tentative agreements support this transformation with important changes like a weekend delivery model agreed to by CUPW and the Corporation. These changes will help Canada Post rebuild its business and capture continued growth in the Canadian ecommerce market.

The tentative agreements also preserve job security protections and pension benefits, while providing wage increases and enhancements to other important benefits that employees rely on.
