Update on Industrial Inquiry Commission, negotiations with CUPW

February 24, 2025, 03:12 pm

Canada Post took part in a second round of hearings last week as the Industrial Inquiry Commission (IIC) continues to examine the collective bargaining dispute with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), as well as our broader financial and competitive challenges.

During the hearings on Wednesday, February 19 and Thursday, February 20, Canada Post laid out the need for urgent changes to its operating and delivery model as well as the outdated regulatory and policy regime in which the company operates.

Employees can review the company’s submissions to the commission and learn more about the process here.

Negotiations scheduled for March

Canada Post and CUPW are scheduled to hold two days of negotiations on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2.

The talks will be held in parallel with the work of the IIC and follow discussions with William Kaplan, who is leading the commission and will mediate the new round of negotiations.

We are committed to reaching negotiated agreements with CUPW that will help us better serve the changing needs of Canadians while providing good jobs to those who provide that service.
